I totally agree. And I can understand how overwhelming it can be for business people to figure social media out. I do social media stuff 24/7 and I still scratch my head to figure it out how it best applies in some situations ;)
A lot of companies are dragging their feet, a lot of companies aren't the best candidate for social media ROI.. .but there are SO MANY companies that could benefit (and profit) handsomely with a little bit of experimentation and exploration.
Allocating a small fraction of their traditional advertising budget in social media consulting (with someone like Wayne) would be a great investment, imho.
I think we'll really see how social media changes customer relationships, branding and new media in 2009.

I love the parity and access that exists in Social Media. It does a lot to put everyone on an equal playing field.
I love the party in social media, too. Finally "we" get the power to be heard (if we are interesting enough) and the chance to take on the big boys and the establishment.
