There are so many ways to communicate now with any businesses target audience. It is important for businesses to figure out how each apply to their business. I think this is something that just takes time and patience and eventually you figure out how to properly fill your online marketing void. Companies have to be willing to crash and burn a little in order to learn social media. You will piss off some people eventually but over time the process will refine.

I totally agree. And I can understand how overwhelming it can be for business people to figure social media out. I do social media stuff 24/7 and I still scratch my head to figure it out how it best applies in some situations ;)
A lot of companies are dragging their feet, a lot of companies aren't the best candidate for social media ROI.. .but there are SO MANY companies that could benefit (and profit) handsomely with a little bit of experimentation and exploration.
Allocating a small fraction of their traditional advertising budget in social media consulting (with someone like Wayne) would be a great investment, imho.
